Update your home decor with the runway trends

The season of fashion has begun!

It is true that are homes reflect our inner personality and style.  Such style is influenced by plenty of external factors, whether it be the weather, travels or even the latest runway trends.

At Lea Mattress we are proud of our style and elegant designs, so what better way to celebrate London Fashion Week than inspiring you with our favourite looks to help you be ahead of the trends?

This year has seen an array of fashion designers showcasing innovative and inspiring looks.

Take a look at our Lea Mattress' top picks:

Colour: Velvet Cake

A trending colour for this season can be described as ‘Velvet Cake’, which mixes together autumnal hues of deep reds and luxurious berry shades. These colours can create a warm yet feminine and romantic atmosphere.

Envision a more contemporary update to the outdated interior design trend of a red feature wall. Instead, why not try coating your alcoves in a rich velvet red against white walls. This could be the perfect touch to your master bedroom.

Designers such as Marques Almeida achieved femininity and elegance on the runway through the combinations of satin and velvet textures. Add these textures to your bedding choices and you will be the owner of a new modern bedroom with a glamorous edge!

Texture: Contemporary Quilting

In relation to textures, quilting was a popular choice this year. This trend was originally delivered by Bottega Veneta who modernised the texture in a fashion forward manner, and now it can be seen across the industry, from high fashion to high street.

The use of quilting in your home can add volume and texture. Incorporate quilting by investing in a statement bed frame! Why not try a super king fabric bed frame that exhibits this trend and can be used as a focal point for the room.

Or opt for an upholstered headboard for a more subtle look.

Values: Responsible Resources

Sustainability has been a big topic of discussion in recent years. However, brands are making a conscious effort to be better to the planet, now more than ever.

Sustainability and innovation go hand in hand as organisations are working to create alternatives to our current fabric and manufacturing processes. An example of this included Loro Piana’s effort in creating cruelty-free silk yarn, the process involves silk-worms being fed castor beans to produce a natural golden colour.

A way to acquire a more sustainable bedroom is by sourcing furniture made in natural materials, such as wooden  bedside tables that have been recycled or repurposed. A top tip in achieving a sustainable home is to understand where your commodities have come from and who has made them.

Texture: Contemporary Quilting

Linking to recycled items, a popular trend this fashion month is the rebirth of the seventies. Longchamp displayed rusty, retro shades and vintage fabrics such as corduroy and denim in their seventies inspired collection.

Influence your bedroom design ideas with a soulful colour scheme, imagine burnt orange bedding with mustard coloured pillows and throws.

Add home accessories such as sheepskin rugs and rattan baskets to make your boho dreams come true!
