Do the words ‘cannot sleep’ sound familiar? You have had a long and tiring day at work, at home with the kids all day, or been busy outside enjoying some hardcore running. You are looking forward to your beloved bed without the need to count those sheep.

Fed up of tossing all night trying to sleep?

When you are all tucked up and comfy, the nightmare of not being able to fall asleep begins. You think it is because you are over tired, too alert or simply going over the day’s events in your head. But then this unwanted state of awakeness lasts for two or three hours and you realise that you will soon have to get up for work.

There are many reasons why people have trouble sleeping at night, but there are several easy steps you can take to aid your ability to fall asleep and wake more refreshed and ready for the day.

Try these tips to fight trouble sleeping:

  • Blackout blinds/curtains - stop bright light entering the room. Darker the better.
  • Cooler room temperature – Don’t blast the heating system, turn the thermostat down at night.
  • Avoid the use of computers, mobiles at least 30 minutes before planned sleep.
  • Pillow Spray - containing lavender and other plant essences that aid sleep. These can be found in many supermarkets and herbal shops.
  • Relaxing music, or calming sounds. For example, Google Home plays calming sounds once you have said “goodnight google”

Still not sleeping well?

If all these methods don’t work for you, you may want to consider the following:

A new mattress can instantly improve your sleep. We tend not to consider how old our existing one is, but a simple change to a new memory foam or hybrid mattress like the Premier can truly make a difference.

You have the perfect mattress, now finish the new look.

Treat yourself, many people love the feel of hotel bed sheets. When buying new bedding consider the thread count, the higher the thread count the better the linen is. Yes, you will pay more but you will benefit from a better night’s sleep and they last much longer
